Welton Independent, competing with her owner/breeder, Brigid Campbell prior to her field accident that curtailed her own competition career. The mare was everything that her rider wanted in a competition horse and had been purpose bred to compete. After it was confirmed that in view of her partially severed tendon,  the mare would not hold up to the rigors of top class competition. Her owner took the decision to breed from her to retain her genetic bank.Independents first foal, was to the Cleveland Bay Stallion Tynedale St Julian.The resultant colt Pembridge Jack the Nipper developed into a big upstanding jumper

Although a joy to ride .'Jack was sold on to hunt and event as his big frame was better suited to a man and the breeder wanted a horse that she could enjoy herself. Independent's next foal was Welcome. As a youngster Welcome  was extremely successful on the county circuit in hunter classes.As she came of riding age. Welcome matured into a good dressage performer with the  superb jump. Brigid continued to do dressage and jumping with her, but felt that the mare would make a serious eventer. To this end two trial events were done in 2003, which verified that she did indeed have talent. In 2004,her first season PN, ridden by the very talented  Isobel Lee Welcome got 19 points British Eventing..

To a man we are looking forward to the start of next season. After producing Welcome,  Brigid put the mare to Stunner Rascal TB our main event stallion. The resultant foal Pembridge Swingtime was also successful at county level and in young-stock  classes. As Brigid intended to compete Welcome herself initially Swingtime was sold on to Mrs Price to show and later event. Swingtime has returned to base so that she can now event alongside welcome in 2005.In the meantime back in the wings, Brigid put Independent to Pembridge Minstrel and now has a 2001 gelding, and a 2003 filly in Welcomes and Springtime's footsteps.
