Pembridge Midshipman was named after his Sire, who played such a pivotal role in the production of pure bred stock, including many premium sons .Shippy as he is affectionally called, was selectively bred from the April Love dam line, to produce a modern athletic type of Cleveland, that can hold its own in competition against the sports horse. He has loose movement and an athletic jump. His first pure bred foals have inherited what we were looking for. He covered a bank of mares in the Cholderton Cleveland Herd, sired by Littlebeck Cavalier, himself a free moving athletic Cleveland, that was a performer under saddle in his own right as well as a fast agile Masters Horse for eight seasons. Shippy's first foal was exported to America, but his subsequent stock are retained in the UK until old enough to compete. Shippy has been brought on slowly under saddle to give him time to mature,  he will commence his show-jumping career in 2005. He is an ideal sire on the lighter competition mares to give them bone and substance without making them too heavy, on thoroughbreds it is the aim to produce stock of the calibre of Pembridge Minstrel. Minstrel is now an advanced eventer (FEI) and leads the rankings with the BHD for young stallions under 10, also well up the senior rankings He is ranked 5th Nationally in the eventing ranking

The success of Minstrel is due to selective breeding. A combination of the stamina and jump of the Cleveland, combined with Group1 racing speed. On winning TB mares, Shippy has been bred to do the same, making him an ideal prospective Sire of Eventers and Jumpers.
