Quite by chance, or fate, we found Macauley.

Whilst looking for a horse for a friend’s daughter we were recommended by my sister in law to a dealer friend of hers in Tiverton, Devon. We duly travelled from Buckinghamshire to see this horse and while we were there we saw a young bay horse being lunged. The dealer explained she had kept Macauley for a year as he was somewhat poor and extremely nervous when she had purchased him. Now he was four years old she had just started to lunge him and in fact that very day was the first time that her young daughter had even sat on him. We thought he moved well on the lunge and despite the fact that he was a hairy little bay we felt that he could be something special. Little did we know that he was a Pembridge horse.

My friend purchased the other horse and after some discussion my daughter and I decided we could do something with Macauley and it would be company on the long trailer ride back to Bucks for the other one!

We were given his papers, and in an effort to find out about him I wrote to his first registered owner and to the breeder – little did we realise that he was such a well bred little horse. Kate Telford was extremely pleased to be in contact again with him as they had lost track of where he was.

We have now had him for a few years In this time he has matured, has grown, has got more confident and I am sure we can say he is happy. He lives on our small farm with my other horses, shetlands, sheep and dogs and has transformed into a l5.3 hands horse with lovely paces and a natural jump. Hazel, my  daughter has been schooling him and for dressage, then showjumping, followed by crosscountry, ready for eventing Watch this space!

Well we did it. Macauley has arrived! Between exams college,and the weather Macauley has come into his own.He and Hazel have a wonderful partnership .This has culminated in 2004 with Hazel being asked by her riding club,Apsley Guise and District if she and Mac would represent the Club in the novice dressage regional final,at Welwyn!The day went like a dream and Mac and Hazel came joint third in their class.The team got another third and fourth, making them overall winners. So Hazel and Mac are off to the British Riding Club Dressage Finals at the Lincolnshire Showground in September! We wish them well

Pembridge Holly with her foal Pembridge Hollyberry Sire No Evil TB. Holly was purchased ten years ago.when the stud began its own breeding programme. She was purchased as an extra when we collected Ramblers Empress and Forest Finesse,two purebred Cleveland Bays from a stud in Essex. A Cob x TB jumping mare, who had had a successful career as a showjumper. She was in foal to a Cleveland Bay Stallion Gerrick Master.We saw her yearling by the same stallion and could see that the mare bred well. Her resultant foal 'Tango' has gone on to become a successful showhunter and riding club horse

We put Holly for the next two years to No Evil and she produced two good colts Pembridge Hickory and Pembridge Hollyberry,that have now gone to Ireland and are jumping successfully there. We then for the next three seasons put her to Minstrel Star. Her first and only filly foal was sadly lost by her new owner. Her next colt Pembridge Hollyoak own brother to Macauley was also lost as a 4 year old with his new owner. Macauley is therefore Holly's only surviving offspring to Minstrel Star.

Holly has been retired now and has a lovely home on Exmoor, where she is ridden out over the Moore's. An outstanding broodmare, she deserved her retirement and we will always have a soft spot in our hearts for her
